SV grad Graham picked by Orioles in Round 38

Seneca Valley graduate Jack Graham was picked by the Baltimore Orioles in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft Wednesday night.

Graham, who is a junior from Zelienople, was the 21st player from Slippery Rock University to be drafted into the majors.

He is the son of Brian Graham, who is the Orioles’ Director of Player Development.

Graham was also picked by the Chicago White Sox after his senior year of high school in the 50th round in 2011.

He transferred to SRU from Division I Youngstown State University, where he played two seasons and appeared in 71 games.

Graham batted .222 in 16 games for The Rock this season with two RBI.

He is one of several Seneca Valley players who have been drafted since the school fielded a team in 1985.

The list of Raiders drafted includes: Zach Jackson, Brian Stoecklein, Ryan Page, Chris Tremblay, Dom Duggan, Cory Mazzoni, Kevan Smith, Kyle Helisek, Tyler Bream and Gianpaul Gonzalez.

Two former Butler BlueSox players were drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. Catcher Stuart Levy was taken in the 27th round and pitcher Andrew Elliot in the 30th round.
