'Butler's Disneyland' program presented

BUTLER TWP — A program on “The History of Alameda Park — Butler’s Disneyland” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. both today and next Thursday at the Carousel Shelter at the park.

Alameda Park was an amusement park from 1901-1944. It was complete with a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel and boating lake.

Many celebrities, including jazz great Louis Armstrong, performed in the outdoor theater and dance pavilion.

Historian Bill May of Butler will give the 60-minute slide show with rare photographs, video clips and entertaining tales.

Admission is free. The event is sponsored by Butler County Parks and Recreation.
