Weekend events to bring visitors to county

Butler Longest Jeep Parade Ever.

There will be a lot to see and do in Butler County this weekend as several events are expected to draw large crowds.

“We’re hoping for tens of thousands,” said Jack Cohen, president of the County Tourism and Convention Bureau.

The fifth annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival in Butler and at Cooper’s Lake Campground in Worth Township may be the biggest draw, but the Harmony Spring Fest and a bicycle ride for multiple sclerosis also are expect to attract plenty of visitors.

The Jeep festival at Cooper’s Lake will run Friday through Sunday, and it will feature a Jeep parade Friday afternoon from Butler County Community College to downtown Butler.

While many Jeep enthusiasts may visit nearby Moraine State Park over the weekend, the park also has another key event there.

The PA Keystone Chapter of the National MS Society will begin its 30th anniversary ride of Bike MS: Escape to the Lake at the park early Saturday morning.

More than 1,200 cyclists will start at the park on their 150 mile ride to Erie to raise money for the fight against multiple sclerosis.

In Harmony, the Spring Fest will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It will feature a Fiber Arts Festival and a Herb and Garden Fair.

The event will bring numerous vendors and activities into the community, and will include live music.
