John T. Roberts

John T. Roberts, 88, formerly of Mars, died Friday morning at the F.F. Ewing Care Center in Canandaigua, N.Y.

Born in Adams Township on Nov. 26, 1926, he was the son of the late James and Mandana Marshall Roberts Jr.

John had been a mechanic for J & L Steel in Ambridge.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mars, the Mars Volunteer Fire Company, now the Adams Fire District, and was an avid bowler, story teller, square dancer and hospice volunteer.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he was a member of the Mars American Legion.

Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his daughters, Marjorie Stepanovich and her husband, Samuel, of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Karen Banks and her husband, Robert, of Ellwood City; his grandchildren, Jill, Emily, Janelle and Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Samuel, Noah, Mary, Katherine, Zachary and Peyton; and his niece, Beverly Crislip.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Maier Roberts, who he married on June 6, 1952, and who died on May 16, 2012; his daughter, Jacalyn Sue Roberts; his sister, Jean Crislip; and two brothers, William and Thomas Roberts.

ROBERTS — Friends, of John T. Roberts, who died on Friday, May 8, 2015, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, with the Rev. Robert Newpher officiating.Please meet at the church.
