John D. Thomas Sr.

John Thomas Sr.

John D. Thomas Sr., 71, of Evans City passed away on Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Sept. 28, 1943, in Sligo, he was the son of the late John W. and Sue (Yoder) Thomas.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was involved in the Cuban Crisis. He was a member of the American Legion and formerly coached baseball for the Evans City Athletic Association. In his free time, John was an avid fisherman who enjoyed working in his garage, reading westerns and, most of all, spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Julia Thomas, who he married on Oct. 3, 1964; his three children, John D. Thomas Jr., Christopher (Jane) Thomas and Tiffany Thomas; his brother, Fordyce (Marlene) Wayland; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kimberly Thomas; one brother, Richard Wayland; and two sisters, Darlene Best and Lois Silves.

THOMAS — Private services will be held for John D. Thomas Sr., who died Friday, May 1, 2015, at the discretion of his family.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E.
