Edward J. Brandt, 91, of Mars died Friday morning at Wexford House Nursing and Rehab.

Born in Adams Township on July 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Loretta Osche Brandt Sr.

Ed had worked at the bulk mail center in Warrendale, at Castle Rubber in East Butler, at Woodings in Mars and for the Mashuda Corp. in Cranberry Township.

He was the original owner of the Mars Beer Distributor.

He served as a radioman third class in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a life member and a past commander of the Mars VFW Post 7505, where he had held all offices.

He was a life member of the Mars American Legion Post 787, the D.A.V. Butler Chapter 64, the Mars Volunteer Fire Company, now Adams Area Fire District, and the Mars AARP.

Ed was a member of St. Kilian Catholic parish.

Surviving are a daughter; Monica McMaster and her husband, James, of Callery; a son, Kevin E. Brandt of Renfrew; his grandchildren, Chad McMaster and his fiancee, Staci, and Jessica McMaster; a great-grandson, Bryson McMaster; a sister, Myrtle Wolf of Florida; a brother, Raymond Brandt of Mars; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. McCombs Brandt, who he married on July 14, 1951, and who died on April 7, 1995; a brother, Charles Brandt; and three sisters, Catherine Harris, Mary Kiley and Florence Lambert.

BRANDT — Friends of Edward J. Brandt, who died Friday, May 1, 2015, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Please dress in casual attire.Mass of Christian burial in St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry streets in Mars, will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating.
