Ex-college president on gaming board

HARRISBURG — Former Grove City College President Richard Jewell has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board by Speaker of the House Mike Turazi.

Jewell of Bethel Park, Allegheny County, was president of Grove City College from 2003 to 2014 when he retired and was replaced by President Paul McNulty.

He was selected because of his background in litigation, corporate law and forensic accounting, according to a news release from Turazi.

The gaming control board is made up of seven commissioners who oversee the regulatory and legal framework of the gaming industry for the state.

Jewell succeeds John McNally whose two-year term expired earlier this year.
