Kennedy

Darwin E. Kennedy, 73, of Mars died Wednesday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Pittsburgh on Sept. 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Sample A. and Marvel Mahan Kennedy.

Darwin had been a sales representative for Kuhn's Markets in Pittsburgh.

He was an active member of the Christian Community Church of Gibsonia.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Mincer Kennedy, who he married on Dec. 26, 1950; two daughters, Trena M. Hartzell (Randy) of Rural Valley, Pa., and Karen R. Harrold (Richard) of New Castle; one son, Richard P. Kennedy of Ridgecrest, Calif.; his grandchildren, Heather Meyer (Josh), Jessica Guyett (Matthew) and Zachary and Erin Pennington; his great-grandchildren, Melody, Reagan, Reese, Bentley and Jocelyn; two sisters, Eleanor Schafer (David) of Traverse City, Mich., and Doris Kiefer of Saxonburg; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, G. June Kennedy.

Kennedy, who died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Community Church, 5719 N. Montour Road, Gibsonia, with the Rev. Dan Turney, officiating.
