Ruth J. (McCommons) Graham, 85, of Canton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday at the Mercy Medical Center.

Ruth was born in Hampton on Nov. 21, 1929, to the late Charles Troy and Cora Velma (McConnell) McCommons.

She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and Butler Business College in Pennsylvania. She was employed as a bookkeeper for most of her life, last retiring from Unkefers Tractor and Equipment in Minerva.

Ruth volunteered for the past three years at Crossroads Hospice, making lap blankets for the patients.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James Graham, who passed away in January 2012, and siblings Lloyd McCommons, Dorothy Miller and Jerald “Jake” McCommons.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (James) Scalf and Georgia (Dan) Oswald, all of the Canton South area; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers Merle McCommons of Youngstown, Milton “Mick” McCommons of Mapleton, Ohio, and Clark “Pal” McCommons and Benjamin “Ben” McCommons, both of Pennsylvania.

GRAHAM — A funeral service for Ruth J. Graham, who died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with her son-in-law, Dr. James Scalf (chaplain) officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern, Ohio.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, OH 44685.Those wishing to send condolences or leave a special message may do so at the Reed online guest book at www.reedfuneralhome.com.
