Truck crash closes I-80 for a while this morning
SCRUBGRASS TWP, Venango County — A tractor-trailer full of car batteries jackknifed and caught fire at Interstate 80 and Route 38 after hitting a disabled car at the Venango-Butler County line just before 5:30 a.m. today.
No one was hurt, but portions of I-80 and Route 38 were closed for about three hours.
Firefighters from Emlenton and Clintonville doused the flames with water and compressed-air foam. The entire rig was destroyed.
Venango County emergency management agency crews and state Department of Environmental Protection inspectors rushed to the scene over concerns of a potential health hazard.
