Arnold J. “Red" Baker

Arnold J. “Red” Baker, 74, of Jackson Center, Pa., Lake Township, passed away unexpectedly at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday at home of natural causes.

Born June 13, 1940, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of James Glenn and Viola Kemp Baker.

He was a 1958 graduate of Lakeview High School.

Mr. Baker was a truck driver for many years and drove for Thompson's Concrete, Fredonia, Laubscher Cheese Company, Mercer, and then retired from Milk Transport Inc. (Hovis Trucking) of Grove City, where he was the refrigeration technician for many years.

Red was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during peacetime.

He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Lake Lodge 434, Free and Accepted Masons, Sandy Lake, New Castle Consistory with Scottish Rites, Zem Zem Shrine and the Erie and Mercer County Wheel Patrol.

Red was a social guy and loved to visit, and when he did, he always lifted people's spirits. He also enjoyed the time he spent at Cool Springs Fitness, but most of all he loved being with his family.

His wife, the former Kay F. Rodgers, who he married June 20, 1970, survives at home. Also surviving are one daughter, Carol D. Baker of Clarksburg, Md.; one son, David C. Baker of Seattle, Wash.; four sisters, Joyce Kelly of Grove City, his twin, Anne Elder and her husband, Harold, of Jackson Center, Bonnie Weber and her husband Dan, of Grove City and Gayle Lenihan and her husband, Michael, of Johnstown, Colo.; and one sister-in-law, Mary Joyce Baker, of Grove City.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, Richard “Dick” Baker and James Baker, preceded him in death.

BAKER — Calling hours for Arnold J. “Red” Baker, who died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Earl R. Dykes, Methodists United In Faith, presiding.A Masonic service will precede the service and Military Honors will be given following the service.Memorial Cont: American Heart Assoc., 840 Southwestern Run Road, Youngstown, OH 44541 or American Cancer Society, 3208 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
