Blooms, tunes Summer flower show, jazz planned at Phipps
PITTSBURGH — Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens showcases some of Earth's most curious plants — from spiky porcupine tomatoes to stinky devil's tongue arums — in the summer flower show.
Adding to the spectacle, the Butterfly Forest offers monarchs, zebra longwings and pipevine swallowtails.
Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. Fridays. Admission is $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and students, and $11 for children ages 2 to 18.
Phipps will host Jazz in the Garden, an evening of music in the outdoor garden, from 7 to 10 p.m. May 28. Performing will be the Benny Benack Big Band featuring classics by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
