Beula Mae McNaughton Black, 96, of Thomas, W.Va., formerly of Parker, passed away Tuesday morning at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, W.Va., following a period of declining health.

Born in Parker April 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Beulah Benner McNaughton.

She was a 1936 graduate of the former Parker High School and a 1938 graduate of beauty school (beautician). In high school, she was named the Pennsylvania State Champion in the category of concert pianist. She studied playing organ at Grove City College for a period of time.

She owned and operated Beula Mae's Beauty Salon in Parker for many years, and provided hair styling at the former Bowser Funeral Home for many years as well.

Beula Mae was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Parker, a member of the women's circle of the church, and she served as church organist for decades.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 60 of Parker City, and was a member and past president of the North Butler County Music Club.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Charles (wife Tena) Black of Davis, W.Va., and Ken Black of Parker; four grandchildren, Derek (Sara) Black of Parker, Chris (Norma) Black of Arvada, Colo., James Black of Lexington, Ky., and Ben Black of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Black, who she married in West Virginia July 20, 1940, and who passed away Oct. 6, 2002. She was also preceded by her brother, Charles Allen McNaughton.

BLACK — Friends of Beula Maw McNaughton Black, who died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne Ave., Parker, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with her grandson, Chris Black, officiating.
