Film crew to return to Harmony for more photo shoots
HARMONY — The Pittsburgh-based production company that used the borough as a backdrop for a television pilot is scheduled to return next month for filming six additional episodes.
The filmmakers then hope to get the show on television or online.
“We’re very excited at the chance to come back. We had a lot of fun the first time around and everyone was great and supportive,” said Simon Barracchini of Dangerwood Pictures.
Barracchini said filming will resume June 26 and June 28 after getting permission from the borough. The episodes will be a continuation of the historical show “Mason,” which followed the fictionalized character Samuel Westfall after he foiled an assassination attempt on George Washington during the early years of the country.
Dangerwood Pictures shot the pilot in the summer of 2014 and it debuted at the Strand Theater in November to much fanfare.
Barracchini said he and his writing partner, Zack Eritz, wrote additional episodes in hopes of getting the series into film festivals where “Web episodes” are a category. From there he would like to get the series out to a larger audience.
Possible landing spots for “Mason” include cable TV or online streaming services like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Doing so would mean getting TV executives to watch the show first, Barracchini said.
Exact shooting locations haven’t been determined, but borough council this week approved the filming for the two days.
“We’re very excited to have them back,” council President Greg Such said. “It showcases the place very nicely and lets people see what we have to offer.”
