‘Memoirs’ opens Friday

Butler Little Theatre is staging “Brighton Beach Memoirs” Friday through May 16 at the theater at One Howard St.

Curtain is at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are $12, available by calling 724-287-6781 between 7 and 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Harmony, Zelie host quilt show

Quilt in a Day founder and television quilter Eleanor Burns and her sister Patricia Knoechel, both Zelienople natives, will present a program to raise funds for the Harmony Museum on May 26 and for the Zelienople Historical Society on May 27.

The annual Harmony Museum event from 10 a.m. to noon in Stewart Hall, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, is already nearly sold out.

The next day’s program in Zelienople begins at 6 p.m. in St. Peter’s Reformed Church., 320 E. Grandview Ave.

The theme for each is “Quilts of Our Lives.”

Burns and Knoechel will share memories and quilts from the homes of audience members who grew up in Harmony or Zelienople. Also covered will be techniques from their new publications, including the book “All Star Quilt” and patterns “Birdhouse Quilt,” “Sew Radiant Quilts,” “Color Wheel Quilt,” and “Magic Mountains.”

Nature Festival set in Foxburg

FOXBURG — The seventh annual Foxburg Nature Festival will be held May 16 and 17 and feature bird walks, lectures, hikes, exhibits, a fishing tournament, a 5K walk/run, and a canoe/kayak poker run. More information is at http://foxburginn.wix.com/naturefest2015.
