School hosts bring a friend day

JEFFERSON TWP — HIS Kids Christian School, 650 Saxonburg Road, will host a “Bring a Friend” Day May 1.

Current kindergarten to sixth grade students may take friends who might be interested in enrolling at HIS Kids for all or part of the school day.

Students will attend a chapel service and participate in the day’s academics or special classroom lessons.

Parents also may see the school and find out more about it on May 1.

Catholic women set annual spring tea

PENN TWP — The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have its annual spring tea and luncheon from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 9 at the Butler Country Club, 310 Country Club Road.

The event will include a fashion show, door prizes and a basket raffle.

‘Ugly’ Hollywood topic of talk

CRANBERRY TWP — The “ugly” side of Hollywood will be explored when Tom Madden presents “Hollywood Homicides” from 2 to 3 p.m. May 9 at the Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road.

Subjects will range from the murder trial of Fatty Arbuckle to the horrific death of the Black Dahlia to sinister conspiracies surrounding Marilyn Monroe, Lana Turner and Natalie Wood.

The murders of Bob Crane, Dorothy Stratten, Rebecca Schaeffer, Sal Mineo and Sharon Tate also will be discussed.

BHS Class of ’70 holds reunion

BUTLER TWP — The Butler High School Class of 1970 will hold its 45th reunion at 7:30 p.m. May 23 at Aubrey’s Dubbs Dred golf course, 124 Aubrey Drive.

The class and friends also will gather at 7:30 p.m. May 22 at the Butler Cubs Hall, 113 S. McKean St., for “Tumble Inn Revisited.”

Church mothers plan informal tea

CABOT — The Christian Mothers of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church will host a “Spring Cream Tea” from 2 to 4 p.m. May 16 at St. Joseph Hall on the church campus, 315 Stoney Hollow Road.

A “cream tea” is a simpler and less formal version of traditional afternoon tea. The menu will be a variety of teas and traditional scones, cakes, cookies, English trifle and other sweets. There will be entertainment and a gift basket raffle.
