Storm brings rain, but little damage to county
Butler County was spared Mother Nature’s wrath Thursday night.
Despite a tornado warning for the southern section of the county and sporadic heavy rainfall, there was not much storm damage reported.
Although a house on Averys Way in Cranberry Township reported being hit by lightning around 7:20 p.m., only smoke was reported there.
Emergency crews left the house by 8:08 p.m.
Steve Bicehouse, director of county emergency services, said there only were reports of a few wires and trees coming down throughout the county.
“It was a lot better than I thought it would be,” Bicehouse said this morning.
The tornado warning was only in effect from 6:20 to 6:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service reported rain accumulation ranged between a quarter-inch to a half-inch in the county from Thursday morning through this morning.
Heavy rains caused some roads in Cranberry, Jackson, Butler, Slippery Rock and Summit townships to flood.
