Building coming down on Main Street
Crews on Wednesday started tearing down the former Flynn Tire building on North Main Street to make way for the new Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant.
City building official John Evans said the developer of the restaurant late last month began removing the lifts and other interior fixtures of the former garage and began demolishing the structure Wednesday afternoon.
The Heartland Restaurant Group of Pittsburgh is the developer of the project. The new coffee and doughnut shop is expected to open this summer.
While the restaurant’s design will be similar to other Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants, the developer has made adjustments to better fit the downtown look in response to the requests of city officials.
The project is expected to cost about $1 million.
