Marian Royer

Marian Royer of Grove City passed away Wednesday evening at UPMC North Hills Passavant Hospital.

Mrs. Royer was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Tillman, S.C., to the late Payton E. Smith and Mary Lucile Smith.

She attended grade school in Tillman, S.C., and graduated from Ridgeland High School in Ridgeland, S.C., in 1947.

She married her first husband, Robert W. Adsit Jr., Aug. 5, 1949, and her second husband, Warren L. Royer, April 12, 1997.

She moved to Grove City in 1952.

She was a Protestant and was very active in Grace United Methodist Church. She served as Sunday school secretary for 25 years and as president of Weaver Disciple Class, as well as on various committees of the church.

She worked at Bashline Rossman Hospital and also for 25 years at Palmer Smith's linens until the business moved out of state. She retired from the Grove Manor Nursing Home in 1998.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with family and neighbors.

Surviving are her two sons, Stephen Adsit and his wife, Faith, of Lowellville, Ohio, and Douglas Adsit of Belefonte; her granddaughter, Kacie Adsit; and her grandson, Ryan Asdit. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Warren and Dawn Royer, Lindsey Royer, Darla Royer, Rodney and Gloria Royer, Bruce and Tammie Royer, and Douglas and Sheila Struble, all of Grove City, and Pamela Radick of the Poconos; and 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother; her stepson, Jeffrey; a stepson-in-law and a stepdaughter-in-law.

Royer — Visiting hours for Marian Royer, who passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Additional visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.
