Basket bingo planned at school

CENTER TOWNSHIP — There will be a basket bingo fundraiser Saturday in the cafeteria of Center Township Elementary School, 950 Mercer Road.

Doors will open at noon and bingo will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Snacks will be available and there will be a raffle.

Proceeds will support children’s events at the school.

Southwest tribes featured in tour

MARS — “Native Americans of the Southwest” will be featured at 2 p.m. April 22 at the Mars Area Public Library, 107 Grand Ave.

Alex Gladis, instructor of anthropology and Native American studies at the Community College of Beaver County, will give a photographic tour of the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni Indian reservations.

Participants will learn about the Native American customs and beliefs prevalent among the Southwest tribes today. The tour will display the grandeur of Arizona and New Mexico.
