Rock track captures 18 events at SRU Open
SLIPPERY ROCK — Highlighted by Brittany Christiansen, the Slippery Rock University women’s track and field team won nine events at Thursday’s SRU open, held at the William Lennox Track.
Christiansen shattered her own school record in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 53.36 meters, topping her former mark of 51.07.
Courtney McQuaid and Kaitlyn Clark finished one-two in the pole vault while Sam Taylor won the pole vault. Butler graduate Jasmine Bailey won the 100 and 200 meters with times of 12.28 seconds and 25.70 seconds, respectively.
Bailey also ran a leg of The Rock’s winning 4x100 meter relay.
Men’s Track and Field
The Rock men also won nine events at the SRU Open.
Michael Horrigan and Jordan Pacheco tied for first in the pole vault and recorded the fifth-highest clearance in the nation at 4.80 meters.
Seneca Valley graduate Hunter Williams won the 100 and 200 meters with times of 10.91 and 22.92 seconds, respectively.
