Paul E. Smith Sr.

Paul E. Smith Sr., 66, of Butler passed away Sunday at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born on Oct. 21, 1948, in Grove City, he was a son of the late John E. and Ruth Deal Smith.

He was a self-employed laborer for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, playing pool and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Surviving are his wife, Penny “Velma” Pryor Smith, who he married on June 17, 1969; his son, Paul E. (Laura) Smith Jr. of Harrisville; his daughter, Pam (Gabe) French of Portersville; his seven grandchildren, D.J., Abbie, Maya, Curtis, Olivia, Izzy and Emilia; his great-granddaughter, Ellie; his four sisters, Shirley Keefer of Butler, and Ellen (Don) Fleeger, Charlotte (Don) Pupak and Normie (Bob) Hovorka, all of Wisconsin; his two brothers, Merle (Judy) Smith and Leo Smith, both of Wisconsin; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, James, Russell and William Smith, and his sister, Joyce Smith.

Smith — The friends of Paul E. Smith Sr., who passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
