Miriam 'Mim' Audre Struble Gilson
Miriam “Mim” Audre Struble Gilson, 93, of Gibsonia passed away peacefully Feb. 13 at her home.
Born on April 14, 1921, in Wilkinsburg, Miriam was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Grace H. Sponagle/Kurtz Struble.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John R. “Jack” Gilson, in 1989, and her sister, Norma Jean Booth in 2008.
Following graduation from Sewickley Township High School in Herminie, she attended two years at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. After a year of laboratory training at E.S. Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh, Miriam accepted a position at Franklin Hospital in Franklin as its first laboratory technician.
After marrying Jack, Miriam, she lived most of her years in West Deer Township until she moved to Gibsonia in 1989.
Miriam was a homemaker, a charter member of the West Deer Bible Church and a member of the OPUS I Music Society, the Mars Senior Citizens Group, the Senior Citizens Bowling League, the Mars AARP and the Miriam Circle of the Bakerstown Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening, stamp collecting and especially spending time with her family.
Miriam is survived by her sons, Richard J. “Dick” Gilson and his wife, Nancy, of New Tripoli and David J. Gilson and his wife, Dawn, of Gibsonia; her daughter, Nancy J. Embich and her husband, Gary, of Saylorsburg; her eight grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Howard F. Struble and his wife, Dolly, of Evans City; and her sister, Patricia S. Struble of Gibsonia.
