Police investigate Freeport teacher
BUFFALO TWP — A teacher in the Freeport School District has been taken off teaching duties while being investigated by police.
“The school district is aware of the ongoing investigation of one of our teachers. The affected teacher has been removed from the classroom pending the results of the law enforcement investigation,” said district spokesman Todd O’Shell in a statement Thursday.
The teacher was not identified, and the reason why the teacher is being investigated was not released.
O’Shell said that Buffalo Township police are doing the investigation. As far as he can tell, the investigation is ongoing. Police could not be reached for further information.
District solicitor Matt Hoffman said this morning he could not comment on personnel matters or ongoing investigations. He said he did not know which school in the district the teacher worked in.
Teacher union president Mark Wyant this morning declined to comment.
