Kathryn 'Kay' Whitacre
Kathryn “Kay” Whitacre, 87, of East Butler, formerly of Saxonburg, passed away at 8 a.m. Sunday at her daughter's home.
She was born on March 22, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to the late David Smith and Ione Tinsley Smith.
Mrs. Whitacre was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class, the 3m's and a former member of the United Methodist Choir.
Mrs. Whitacre is survived by her daughter, Debbie Douglas and her husband, Rick, of East Butler; her four grandchildren, Andy, Joe, Christine and Stephen Douglas; a number of nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Velma Smith Montag of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Whitacre, who she married on June 12, 1947, and who passed away on Dec. 19, 2013, and her two brothers.
Whitacre— The friends of Kathryn “Kay” Whitacre, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Pastor Tom Holman of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
