Cranberry man now sits on game commission
CRANBERRY TWP — A township man who is a longtime hunting safety instructor now is one of the eight members of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Jim Daley, 58, was appointed by former Gov. Tom Corbett in November and confirmed by the state Senate on Feb. 25.
He represents District 1, which covers Butler, Mercer, Lawrence, Venango, Crawford, Erie, Clarion, Warren and Forest counties.
A lifetime Butler County resident, Daley said he has a passion for hunting which made him want to volunteer his time.
“To me it's all about trying to make sure the game commission is doing all it can to keep the tradition of sport hunting alive and to help mentor young people into the sport,” he said.
He has been involved with the commission for 36 years, working as an instructor. He teaches hunter trapper education classes and a class called Successful Turkey Hunting.
In 2009, the commission honored him as the Hunter-Trapper Education Instructor of the year.
