Gladys E. Weitzel Zanicky
Gladys E. Weitzel Zanicky, 88, of Butler passed away at 5:47 p.m. Sunday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1926, in Butler, the daughter of the late Chester Weitzel and Nora Fleeger Weitzel.
Gladys was a member of the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
In her early years, she worked at Mack’s Chicken Farm, Bantam Jeep and made ammunition at Pullman during World War II.
She loved spending time with her family and going to casinos.
Surviving are her daughter, Lynda (Stan) Zielinski of Butler; her three sons, Dr. Rev. Robert (Rev. Shawn) Zanicky of Wilkes-Barre, David (Roberta) Zanicky of Butler and Gary Zanicky of Butler; her nine grandchildren, Larry Wallace, Tracy (Bill) Kline, Bobby Zanicky, Heather (Jamie) Boyd, Victoria Zanicky, David (Stacy) Zanicky, Michele (Roger) Smeltzer, and Erica and Martin Zanicky; her eight great-grandchildren, Brenden, Samantha, Crystal, Shane, Shelby, Bobby, Brady and Emmaline; her sister, Esther Hunter of Butler; her brother, Braden Weitzel of Butler; and her dogs, Mandy and Munchie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Zanicky, who died on April 15, 1984, and her seven brothers.
Zanicky— The friends of Gladys E. Weitzel Zanicky, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at theYoung Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, Butler, with the Rev. Matt Kail officiating.
