Albert J. 'Joe' Young Jr.
Albert J. “Joe” Young Jr., 83, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1932, in Oxford, England, the son of the late Albert Joseph Young Sr. and Lydia Pendle Young.
Joe owned and operated Young’s Kitchen Center Inc., until retiring in 2011.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife, photography, playing cards, genealogy, living in the country and his two cats. Joe was known for his generosity, kindness, for his love of telling jokes and for being an awesome “Pap.”
Surviving are his wife, Joan Radzavich Ivonowski Young, who he married on Feb. 14, 1986; his two daughters, Brenda (Mark) Jewell of Butler and Cindy Angert of California; his son, Albert J. (Sandy) Young III of York, Pa.; his two stepsons, Joseph (Melanie) Ivonowski of South Carolina and Richard Ivonowski of Rockland; his stepdaughter, Cynthia Ivonowski of Butler; his 12 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his brothers, Robert (Rosalynn) Young and Kenneth (Joyce) Young of Evans City; his sisters, Jessica Bieber, Elizabeth Green and Vera Dunmire, all of Evans City, and Margaret (Pete) Herr of Indiana; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Virginia Smith Young; his son, Michael J. Young; his stepson, Robert Ivonowski; and two sisters.
