Albert R. Niggel

Albert R. Niggel, 97, of Butler passed away Thursday morning at the Lowrie House.

Born on Jan. 19, 1918, in Butler, he was a son of the late Albert A. Niggel and Bernadette Easley Niggel.

He worked in Hot & Cold Mill Maintenance for the Armco Steel Plant in Butler for 39 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler since 1959, the Holy Name Society of St. Paul's and the Armco Veterans Club. He enjoyed hunting, was a baseball enthusiast who played in his younger years, and coached youth baseball teams for many years.

Surviving are his children, Joyce M. Niggel Echevaria of Stafford Springs, Conn., Ronald S. Niggel of Butler and A. Timothy Niggel of North Royalton, Ohio; his 10 grandchildren, and his 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Wagner Niggel, whom he married on Dec. 30, 1939, and who died on Feb. 16, 1999; his son, Thomas A. Niggel, who died in 2003; his five sisters, Alberta Mohan, Angela Fleming, Mary Angert, Ruth Getty, and Harriet Dunmyre, and his two brothers, Louis Niggel and Leo Niggel.

Niggel — Services for Albert R. Niggel, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, were private for his family.
