Charles R. “Chuck” Darrell, 53, of Mars passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon in the emergency room of UPMC Passavant Hospital in Cranberry after suffering a heart attack at home.

Born on Nov. 27, 1961, in Connellsville, he was the son of the late Gerald and Sandra Hart Darrell.

Chuck was the owner of DCER Service, a commercial equipment repair company in Mars.

A true family man, Chuck was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and cooking — especially barbecue. He was a novice wine connoisseur. An avid sports fan, he loved all sports and enjoyed watching cooking shows.

He had attended the Mars Alliance Church and served five years with the U.S. Marine Corps.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Yute Darrell, who he married on Sept. 15, 1989; his children, Nathan Darrell and his wife, Ashley, of Butler, Kolby and Tyler Darrell, both of Mars, and Joshua Carrasco in Texas; his grandchildren, Gavin and Miley; a special little girl, Mackenzie Patterson; his friends he regarded as sons, Mitchell Holzer of Valencia and Brian Good of Warrendale; his sister, Donna Bonzon and her husband, Ron, of West Sunbury; his brother, Scott Strickler of New Castle; and many other relatives and in-laws.

Darrell — The friends of Charles R. “Chuck” Darrell, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military honors by the Butler VFW Post 249-American Legion Post 778 Honor Guard will follow the service at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
