Afternoon fire damages Cranberry Twp. house

CRANBERRY TWP — A home at 101 Fox Chase Ct. caught fire Monday afternoon, resulting in significant damage to its roof and siding.

The home, owned by James McElroy, caught fire just after 2 p.m. Officials on scene couldn’t provide a cause citing an impending investigation.

McElroy arrived at his house more than 45 minutes after the fire call was made, and he watched from the street as firefighters from departments around the area battled flames shooting from the roof and side.

Neighbors came to console the man, while another neighbor said there was at least one dog in the house at the time of the fire.

According to the neighbor, McElroy lives at the home with his wife. The couple also has two college-aged daughters who weren’t home.

Firefighters remained at the house for more than two hours before extinguishing the flames.
