Robert A. Alworth
Robert A. Alworth, 84, of Jefferson Manor, Brookville, formerly of West Freedom, Parker, passed away Friday afternoon at the Manor where he lived for some time.
Born on Feb. 26, 1930, in Eldorado, Butler County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Karnes Alworth.
Bob was first married to Mary Jane Stewart who passed away in 1979. He later married Dorothy Wile, who survives.
He was a longtime member of the West Freedom United Methodist Church, where he held many offices involved with the operation of the church.
He was a member and past master of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge F&AM 521, the New Castle Consistory and the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh. Mr. Alworth was a longtime member of the IOOF Lodge, first at West Freedom and Parker, then received his 60-year membership pin from the IOOF Lodge 278 at Butler.
For many years, he dedicated much of his time to the Perry Township Ambulance Service and the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Bob retired with 40 years of service with the former Cooper Energy Services at Grove City where he was both a truck driver and a crane operator.
In addition to his second wife, “Dot,” he is survived by his son and wife, James E. and Terri Alworth of West Freedom, Parker; his granddaughter and her husband, Dr. Lynzee and Dr. Brett Cornell of Louisville, Ky.; his sister, Jane Alworth Bullman of Parker, formerly of Karns City, and his brother-in-law, James “Jim” Wade of Eldorado. In addition to his nieces and nephews, he is also survived by his four stepchildren, Deb (Chuck) Hartman of Eau Claire, Pam (Craig) Brinker of Sligo, Barry (Jane) Wile of Erie, and Roger (Dora) Wile of North Fort Myers, Fla., and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to first wife, Mary Jane, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Rose Alworth Wade, and his brother, Jack Alworth.
