James 'Jim' McKnight

James “Jim” McKnight, 73, of New Castle passed away Dec. 18, 2014, 60 days after he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He passed away at his home, surrounded by his nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, “Baby,” a Jack Russell dog.

Born on Aug. 4, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Donald Arthur and Pearl Garvin McKnight.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country from Oct. 28, 1958, to April 2, 1962.

Jim owned and operated the McKnight Trucking Co. and was contracted with the U.S. Postal Service for many years.

The youngest of 12 children, he is survived by one brother and one sister.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara McKnight; six brothers; and three sisters.
