Charles C. Renn

Charles C. Renn, 65, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away Thursday at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1949, to Charles and Veda (Stevens) Renn in Butler. On May 16, 2008, he married Sue (Eitniear) Renn, who survives.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance and was involved in many activities with its Boy Scout Troop 75.

He earned his bachelor's degree from both the Ohio State University and Defiance College.

Charles was in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1995 achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel after 22 years in the Army Reserve.

He worked for 40 years at General Motors as an environmental engineer, retiring in 2012.

Charles is survived by his loving spouse, Sue Renn of Defiance; his sons, Charles “Chip” (Allison) Renn of Redwood City, Calif., Nathan (Emily) Renn of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Corey (Heather) Renn of Litchfield, Maine; his daughter, Kristin (Jason) Hallman of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his stepson, Jason (Beth Larimore) Brown of Elizabethtown, Ky.; his stepdaughter, Amy Jo (Burke) Granger of Columbus, Ohio; his grandchildren, Stella Renn, Gabriella Renn, Isabell Renn, Everett Hallman, Owen Hallman, Ben Vocke, Bram Granger, Cooper Brown and Caylen Brown; his brothers, Stephen (Londa) Renn of Defiance, James Renn of Defiance and Joseph (Laura) Renn of Archbold, Ohio; and his sisters, Connie (John) Robertson of Sylvania, Ohio, and Rita (Fred) Bergman of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Veda Renn.

RENN — Visitation for Charles C. Renn, who died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, with the Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery where members of the VFW Post 3360 will accord military honors.The family requests memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Boy Scout Troop 75 or St. John Lutheran Church.Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
