Richard E. “Sonny” Grossman, 84, of Slippery Rock passed away at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Living Center.

Richard was born on Oct. 13, 1930, in Slippery Rock, the son of the late Sherman Grossman and Grace Riding Grossman.

He retired from Allegheny Mineral as a dragline operator. After retirement, he drove a bus for Durham School Services.

Richard was an avid NASCAR fan.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Judy (George) Merchant of Petrolia; his son, Robert (Liz) Grossman of West Sunbury; his two grandchildren; his great-granddaughter; and his sister, Lydia Book of Slippery Rock.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. McCloud Grossman; three sisters; his brother; and his two stepchildren.
