Derrick H. Uniatowski
Derrick H. Uniatowski, 28, of Mars, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away Tuesday in the comfort of his home.
Born on Aug. 14, 1986, in Butler, he was the son of Michael and Mary Rochford Uniatowksi.
He was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and had been a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Slippery Rock.
Derrick was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving one tour in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. During his second term in Afghanistan, he was critically wounded in an IED explosion while operating heavy equipment.
He was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505 and the Volant VFW.
Surviving are his parents, Michael E. and Mary K. Uniatowski of Mars, and his two brothers, Michael R. Uniatowski of West Middlesex and Brian Uniatowski of Norfolk, Va.

Uniatowski, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Martin, pastor of the Valencia United Methodist Church, officiating.Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
