BUTLER TWP — Crews have been cleaning up the hair salon where a car on Thursday drove into the business injuring three people.
Township police have release the names of the driver and the injured.
Edward Holmes, 54, of Grove City, who had an apparent medical problem, drove his car about 60 feet into Hair Specialists II in Moraine Pointe Plaza. which was bustling with lunch time customers.
Owner Steve Shinsky said he was told by his employees the person most seriously injured was a woman, who was seated at a hair station near the wall.
A police report identified the woman as 74-year-old Barbara Walters of Lyndora, who suffered a broken arm. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Walters' condition was not available this morning.
Also treated at Butler Memorial for minor injuries were Leroy Bunyan, 65, of Renfrew and Brian Thompson, no age or address given.
Holmes was not hurt in the crash but he was taken to Butler Memorial to be examined for his medical condition, police said.
Other people inside the store were struck by the car or hit by flying glass. One man, witnesses said, was pushed up onto the hood of the car.
There was no immediate estimate on damage to the structure. But Shinsky said he is insured and intends to make arrangements to reopen as quickly as possible.
Workers continued to clean up the debris inside the salon for several hours after the accident, even as evening temperatures dropped to the low teens.
Damage from the accident closed the neighboring Mariner Finance store, which had a condemned sign in the window along with a sign telling customers to contact the store's Cranberry office for assistance.
The wall dividing the two businesses was badly damaged.
No one was injured at Mariner Finance.
