John Mazar

John A. Mazar, 68, of Butler passed away Wednesday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born on July 6, 1946, in New York, N.Y., he was a son of the late Michael Mazar and Mary Stephura Mazar.

John graduated from high school, attended Robert Morris College and was the owner of N.R.L.D. until 1985. He then helped start and worked for Associated Tax Service in Center Township. He enjoyed doing income taxes, going to casinos and traveling to Las Vegas.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy F. Pollock Mazar, who he married on April 11, 1979; his son, Jonathan Andrew Mazar of Butler; his brother, Walter M. (Carolyn) Mazar of Butler; his two sisters-in-law, Miriam (David) McElhaney of Cranberry and Doris (Rudy) DeLatt of California; his aunt, Kay Zgibor of Butler; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Mazar— The friends of John A. Mazar, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at theGeibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Fisher officiating.
