Brief power outage affects 5,300 customers
A transmission outage caused 5,300 Penn Power customers to lose power briefly this afternoon.
Chris Eck, First Energy spokesman, said a high voltage line briefly went out of service cutting off power to two transformers. The problem was corrected and customers got power back after only 8 minutes. No one in Butler County was without service as of 1 p.m.
People were affected in Jackson Township as well as in Beaver and Lawrence counties, he said.
The cause of the outage is unknown, but could have been equipment failure or due to weather, Eck said.
