William C. 'Bill' Yurkovich

Yurkovich

William C. “Bill” Yurkovich, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday surrounded by his family at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, Pa.

Born in Lyndora, Mr. Yurkovich was a 55-year resident of Fairless Hills and a member of the Saint Frances Cabrini Parish.

Mr. Yurkovich proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post 249, the Croatian Lodge and the A and R Travelers.

After his military service, Bill worked as a machinist at the 3M Corp. for more than 30 years.

Bill was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was also his grandchildren's biggest supporter and made it to every game or meet he could attend. Among Bill's hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, and going to the beach. He was also extremely handy around the house, where he took on all projects big and small.

The hobby he most enjoyed was planting his gardens each spring with the help of his daughter, Terri, where they often produced more tomatoes and cucumbers than they knew what to do with. His friends and family always benefited from his bountiful harvests.

Bill will be sadly missed by his many friends at LA Fitness, where he was an inspiration for continuing to exercise with his oxygen tank!

Beloved husband of 60 years to Dorothy M. Logvin Yurkovich, Mr. Yurkovich is the loving father of Terri Smart and her husband, Greg, and the devoted grandfather of Gregory, Lauren and Lindsey Smart.
