Ruth Shively

Ruth A. Shively, 80, of Allen, Texas, passed away Tuesday in Plano, Texas.

Ruth was born on Sept. 3, 1934, in Bruin, to Clyde J. and Cecilia Hinterlang McCorry.

She married David Ray Shively on June 11, 1955, in Chicora.

Ruth was involved in numerous activities including the Scarlett O’Hatter Society, also known as the Red Hat Society, her bunko and book club groups, as well as her Bible study group at the First Presbyterian Church in Allen, where she was a member and also served as an elder. She especially loved having dinner with her family. Ruth loved sitting outside on her back porch. She enjoyed having friends and being a friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Pierce and her husband, Bob, of Allen, Texas, and Pam White of Dallas, Texas; her son, Kevin Shively and his wife, Meg, of Tyler, Texas; her grandchildren, Karen Liddy and her husband, John, of Dallas, Texas, Emily White of Denton, Texas, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband, Mark, of Allen, Texas, and Katie Galletley and her husband, Paul, of McKinney, Texas; her five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jane Barger and her husband, Ken, of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Bob McCorry; and sister, Virginia Traher.

Shively — The family of Ruth A. Shively, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, will receive friends during a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Allen, Texas.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 605 S.
