J. Kevin Holbein
John Kevin Holbein, 57, of Freeport was born on July 7, 1957, and he passed away Sunday.
He graduated from Freeport High School, then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Penn State University.
Kevin worked at Allegheny Ludlum Research Laboratory for many years before retiring on disability.
He had many interests, most of them relating to the outdoors, which he loved. Kevin fished, tied flies, hunted, bird watched, collected bees for research, rode his hand bike on the trails, camped, was a baseball pitcher and played with and then volunteered for the Pittsburgh SteelWheelers wheelchair basketball team. He loved baseball and was a season-ticket holder for the Pirates' games.
Kevin's family and friends will remember his unique perspective on life and his kind, thoughtful nature. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his father, Robert Sr.; his brothers, Robert Jr. (Kim) and Mark (Kim); his sisters, Carol Carson and Mary Ann (Jack) Jenny; his niece, Alyssa (Bill) Cadamore; his nephews, Brad (Roseanne) and Grant Carson, Clayton and Tyler Holbein, and Jack and Dylan Jenny; several great-nephews; and his great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl C., and his infant brother, Thomas.
