Vonda L. Moore
Vonda L. Moore, 78, of Fairmont Road, Chicora, went to be with the Lord early Monday morning surrounded by her family at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Moore was born in Haysville on May 16, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Theodore R. and LaVaun Ellenberger Walker.
Mrs. Moore graduated from the Fairview Township Karns City High School in 1954 and later from Butler Business College.
Vonda was an active member of the Karns City United Methodist Church and had served as church secretary for more than 30 years. She was a member and a teacher of the church's “Who Do's” Sunday school class and also served as treasurer of the class. Vonda was an avid genealogist and had researched family history for many years. She enjoyed participating in the ladies card club.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Moore, who she married at the Karns City United Methodist Church on Oct. 7, 1955. Also surviving are two sons, Roger L. Moore and his wife, Judi, of Sheffield and Jeffrey R. Moore and his wife, Lisa, of Chicora; three grandchildren, Zachary R. Moore, Brooke L.M. Moore and Alexis R. Moore, all of Chicora; a sister, Sandra F. Rodgers and her husband, Tom, of Bruin; a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Moore and his wife, Edie, of Springfield, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Edwards and Susan Moore, both of Chicora; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
MOORE — Friends of Vonda L. Moore, who died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, will be received at the HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road., Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating.
