SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women's softball team is picked fifth on the PSAC West preseason coaches poll.
California (Pa.) is picked to win the league, followed by Indiana (Pa.), Gannon, Edinboro, SRU, Seton Hill, Mercyhurst, Clarion and Pitt-Johnstown.
Seven of eight starting position players and 15 lettermen return from SRU's 16-26 team from last year. The squad opens the season at the Shaw University Softball Challenge Feb. 21-22 in North Carolina.
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University Western Equestrian team is ranked No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's Zone 2, Region 5.There are three shows remaining in the season. The team will travel to the IHSA Western Semifinals in Oklahoma in March.The team is hosting a Tack Swap and Hippology Quiz fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center on the SRU campus.
