PITTSBURGH — Though she's a New Yorker now, Butler County native Amanda Pulcini has returned to the area to star in Pittsburgh CLO's production of the farce “Boeing Boeing” opening tonight for the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret at Theater Square.

“The best thing about farces is they're obviously trying to be very true to a character. Farces tend to make very archetypal characters,” said Pulcini, 29.

The Tony Award-winning '60s comedy features Bernard, a wannabe-Casanova with Italian, German and American fiancées, each a beautiful airline hostess.

“This guy gets different things from each girl: passion, love and sex,” Pulcini said. She plays Gloria, the American girlfriend.

Unexpected schedule changes bring all three women to Bernard's apartment in Paris at the same time.

Other comedies in which Pulcini has acted include “Lend Me a Tenor” and “No Sex Please, We're British.”

Another of her favorite shows is “Singin' in the Rain,” one of three musicals, including “Legally Blonde” and “Cats,” she appeared in last year for the Pittsburgh CLO summer season.

“I grew up watching CLO, and coming back here was just so magical, and I remember standing there and watching David (Elder) doing the 'Singin' in the Rain' number and just crying and crying.”

Pulcini is staying with her family in Cranberry through the run of “Boeing Boeing,” scheduled to end April 26 but with the possibility of being extended.

In addition to going on auditions and acting in shows, she also works as a nanny and has her own bakery business to keep her busy.

She also is auditioning for graduate schools, having earned a bachelor of fine arts from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Va.

“I want to do it all,” she said. “TV, everything. I'm open to having the right fit.”
