George D. Pflugh

George D. Pflugh, 87, of Butler passed away Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

He was born May 29, 1927, in Butler to the late Roy Pflugh and Catherine (Shearer) Pflugh.

Mr. Pflugh was a member of Christ Outreach Church. He worked in the maintenance department for the Pennsylvania American Water Company for 42 years. Mr. Pflugh was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Keystone Squares, Square Dancing group. Mr. Pflugh was very talented in woodworking. He enjoyed being a handyman and he could fix anything.

He is survived by one sister, Elaine A. Bouchard of Orlando, Fla.; three nieces, Wanda Hopkins of Winter Park, Fla., Donna Pflugh of Butler and Jane Swartzlander and her husband, Russ, of Rittman, Ohio; and one nephew, Charles Herold of Apopka, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Aletha Jean (Glenn) Pflugh, who he married July 4, 1953, and who passed away on Dec. 22, 2013; his daughter, Pamela Jean Pflugh; one sister, Aletha Herold; and one brother, William Pflugh.

PFLUGH — Friends of George D. Pflugh, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Koontz of Christ Outreach Church officiating.Private burial will take place in the Mt.
