Alberta M. Doverspike

Alberta M. Doverspike, 94, formerly of Kittanning, passed away Wednesday at Sugar Creek Rest in Worthington.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1920, in Kittanning to the late Scott and Lonie Patton Jordan.

Alberta lived in Kittanning most of her life before moving to the Sarver area. Most people will remember her friendly smile as she served them at Jordan's Confectionary, her family's business.

She was a member of the First Church of God, Kittanning, and belonged to the Women's Sewing Circle at the church. Alberta cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and those who knew her will never forget her loving and caring spirit.

She is survived by her sons, John E. “Jack” Doverspike and his wife, Janet, of Sarver, and Robert L. Doverspike and his wife, Sally, of Mars; her daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” Grafton and her husband, James, of Kittanning; her nine grandchildren, Brad Doverspike and his wife, Vicki, Kim Avolio and her husband, Scott, Aaron Doverspike and his wife, Candace, Laura Doverspike, Lisa Corica and her husband, Michael, Robert Doverspike and his wife, Trisha, Andrew Grafton and his wife, Kara, Rebekah Barrett and her husband, Christopher, and Benjamin Grafton; her grandson-in-law, David Becker; her nine great-grandchildren; her brother, John “Jack” Jordan and his wife, Delores, of Kittanning, and her sister, Betty Mohney of Zelienople.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John M. Doverspike, who passed away on Dec. 14, 1972; her granddaughter, Beth Ann Doverspike Becker, who passed away on Dec. 25, 2014; her infant grandson, John E. Doverspike Jr.; her brothers, Scott Jordan, Gerald Jordan and Ralph Jordan, and her sisters, Mabel Anderson, Edna Heilman and Estella Black.

The Doverspike family would like to express their gratitude to Alberta's caregivers at Grey's Colonial Gardens, Fair Winds Manor and Sugar Creek Rest.

Doverspike— The family and friends of Alberta M. Doverspike, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. John W. Snyder officiating.
