William L. Hopkins Jr.

William Hopkins

William L. Hopkins Jr., 81, a resident of the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, passed away Monday.

Born on Dec. 10, 1933, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William L. and Freda Hopkins Sr.

William proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard for more than 30 years.

He was a general foreman at Magnetics. During the holiday season, he worked at Allen's Toy Store on Main Street in Butler.

During his free time, William loved gardening, cutting grass, woodworking, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending time with his dogs, but above all, he cherished the time with his adored grandchildren.

The Hopkins family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the nurses and caregivers at the Passavant Retirement Community for all of their care and support.

He is survived by his three daughters, Robin Jagelsky and her husband, John, of Barre, Mass., Linda Zemanick and her husband, Mark, of McMurray and Diane Koegler and her husband, David, of Cranberry Township; his sister, Elaine Holcombe of Connecticut; and his eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Alex, Ryan, and Emma Jagelsky, Hali and Alivia Montgomery, and Molly and Kelly Koegler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy A. Lipinski Hopkins, who passed away on March 27, 2012.

Hopkins — A memorial service for William L. Hopkins Jr., who passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Seaman Memorial Chapel at the Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople.At the conclusion of William's memorial service, all attendees are invited to join his family for a luncheon in the Kidd Learning Center at the Passavant Retirement Community.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to theGlenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, Zelienople.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Hopkins family at www.glennkildoofuneralhome.com.
