Florence E. Wise, 97, of Butler passed away Sunday at the Saxony Health Center.

Born on April 3, 1917, in Saxonburg, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence B. Smyers and Florence Lonitz Smyers.

Florence was a homemaker and had been a 4-H leader. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and crocheting, and also card clubs.

Surviving are her daughter, Rita (Kevin) Cotter of Gibsonia; her six grandchildren, Colleen (Harold) Hamilton, Cindy Christy, Shane Cotter, Keri (Matthew) Cox, Lindsay (Daniel) Wiefling and Patrick Cotter; her six great-grandchildren; and her seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Wise, in 1972; her daughter, Thelma Christy, in 2005; her granddaughter; her eight sisters; and her brother.
