Rev. Williams H. McCreery

Rev. Williams H. McCreery

The Rev. Williams H. McCreery, 93, of Butler passed away Sunday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia after a brief illness.

He was born on May 11, 1921, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Grace McCreery Bonham.

He was a member of the Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Bill married Mary Hauserman McCreery on Aug. 19, 1939. She was the love of his life for more than 71 years.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. Not only was he a skilled welder, but he also excelled in operating heavy equipment, a skill he learned in the Army.

In preparation for his ministry as a pastor, he completed coursework at Houghton College and Transylvania Bible School.

He used the gifts God blessed him with to pastor four churches in Ohio and Pennsylvania for more than 24 years, blessing many with his teachings from the Word of God and his genuine love for the people he served.

His family and friends enjoyed his quick wit and loving loyalty to them; he was always ready to lend a hand whenever needed. His daily walk with Christ was a beacon to all who knew him and his legacy of faith is a treasure to his family that will guide us each day. We rejoice with him that this faithful servant has gone home to his reward.

The family wishes to thank the many angels at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia who so gently and lovingly cared for him the final days of his life.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Grace, and his wife, Mary.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith Dunn and her husband, Russell, of Butler; his son, Robert and his wife, Marolyn, of Fort Worth, Texas; his four grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
